The Financial Economics Institute is now accepting applications for student Research Analyst positions for the 2017-2018 academic year. (Note that we only take applications in the Fall, so you should apply now if you also wish to be considered for a position in the Spring.) FEI Research Analysts work closely with FEI affiliated faculty members from CMC, CGU, KGI, and Pomona College and assist the Institute staff with general operations. Specific responsibilities may include: data collection, data entry, preparing and analyzing databases, programming, background literature search as components of empirically-based research projects with affiliated faculty members, as well as general clerical work for the Institute. Positions tutoring students in Bloomberg, Excel, Cap IQ, Python, and Stata may also be available.
Strong quantitative skills and familiarity with database construction, manipulation, and analysis. Examples might include evidence of your abilities related to web scraping or hand collection of data; extraction of data from sources such as Bloomberg, S&P Capital IQ, or the Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS); manipulation and cleaning of data in Excel, Matlab, or Stata; and statistical analysis using Excel, Matlab, or Stata. Students pursuing a degree in economics, economics-accounting, math, or computer science, and the Financial Economics Sequence is highly desirable. Students must be able to work 6-10 hours per week during 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, in no less than 2-hour increments. Tutors may schedule evening and/or weekend hours.
